Jonathan Strahan,

Assistant Band Director

Jonathan Strahan is entering his first year of teaching as an Assistant Band Director at Paschal High School. Originally from Huffman, Texas, Mr. Strahan attended Huffman Hargrave High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas.  

While attending West Texas A&M University, he studied Euphonium under Dr. Jeremy Lewis and performed with the WTAMU Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Brass Choir, Tuba Euphonium Ensemble, Pep-Band, Chorale, and was a member of the leadership team for  the WTAMU Marching Band. Mr. Strahan participated in the Brass Choir’s 2019 TMEA  performance and served as Principal Euphonium of the Symphonic Band during their 2020 TMEA performance. He has been under the direction of Dr. Russ Teweleit, Professor Don  Lefevre, and Dr. Gary Garner. He was also the recipient of the 2020 WTAMU Outstanding  Bandsman Award and was chosen as the brass area “Star Performer” for the 2019-2020 Honors Recital. Additionally, Mr. Strahan performed as a member of the Carolina Crown  Drum and Bugle Corps in 2019, which placed 4th at Drum Corps International Championships and received the Jim Ott High Brass Award for Best Brass. 

During his studies, Mr. Strahan served as a lesson teacher to Canyon, Amarillo, and Bushland Independent School Districts, building a studio of students from 6-12th grades that had success at regional and state levels. 

Prior to coming to Paschal High School, Mr. Strahan student taught at Claudia Taylor Johnson High School and Tex-Hill Middle School in San Antonio, Texas. Upon Graduating in December, he served as a music teacher at Emerson Elementary in Amarillo, Texas. His  professional affiliations include Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Texas Music Educators Association, and Texas Bandmasters Association. 

In his spare time he enjoys hiking, working out, and spending time with his friends and family.
