Once again, conditions out of our control impacted the marching show. Thank you to all of the family and friends who braved the weather to show up in Arlington on Friday. The decision to not perform the show was fairly quick due to the consistent rain that had started by the time we got to the stadium. The decision to not stay at the game was not made quickly. Only after finding out that the Bowie band had already decided to leave (it was their Feeder Night, so they were playing a few songs with their 8th graders as the game started before loading up and leaving as we were re-loading the trailer) and specific conversations with Mr. Langston and the Bowie HS principal was the decision made. Many of our kids did not have pochos, plus our woodwinds and percussion would not be able to play due to the rain and moisture in the air. However, make note below about the plan to make a performance happen on Friday night at Handley Stadium.
Reminders for the week:
(SHORT) MONDAY MARCHING BAND REHEARSAL: It looks like Monday is the only day (other than Friday) that has no rain in the forecast. Because of this, we are planning to rehearse 4:30-5:30 PM on Monday to get reps on the show in preparation for our performance on Friday. Percussion already had a rehearsal planned, so we’ll get out of their way ASAP so they can continue preparing for their performance at the Lone Star Drumline Contest on Saturday, November 9. This will be the only rehearsal this week for the full marching band. Percussion and colorguard/winterguard will have rehearsals determined/communicated by their specific directors.
FOOTBALL GAME VS MARTIN ON FRIDAY (SENIOR NIGHT) AT HANDLEY STADIUM: We will perform our contest show during halftime on Friday. Football & cheer seniors will be recognized before the game, so we will recognize our seniors after the game. We considered recognizing our seniors during halftime and performing postgame, but with so many seniors this year, we wouldn’t be able to get through everyone in the time allotted. Seniors should use the Google Survey link sent through the BAND app to complete their information for their recognition. More details will be sent out ASAP for Friday's schedule.
MARCHING BAND FEE CLOSEOUT: The end of marching season means that our booster club has invested a tremendous amount of money into our band program. Marching band fees should be paid in full at this point. Any students who need a payment plan to finish off remaining balances can speak to a director or booster treasurer to work that out.
