We’re off and running! We’re officially in full swing and have plenty to keep us busy this week. I hope everyone had an enjoyable long weekend and is ready for our first home football game on friday. Here’s the link to the Sign-Up Genius for that game: 9/6/19 FRIDAY @ 7:30PM PHS vs Haltom, MS Feeder Night
This week is an excellent example of why I send regular emails. We have multiple school/band events and all need to be informed. Remember to talk to your primary band class’s director when you have questions. Make sure you’ve joined the new BAND app for reminders during the week. Here’s the link to the primary group (for ALL MEMBERS AND PARENTS): https://band.us/n/a3a312i71a2el As a reminder, all students should either be paid in full or have made at least THREE installments on band fees. If you are not receiving emailed PDF invoices, send me an email we’ll get that email address added to our system. Reminders for the week: MARCH-A-THON KICK-OFF IN ALL CLASSES ON TUESDAY: Booster club members and March-a-thon coordinators will be in class on Tuesday to go over details of the fundraising plan for March-a-thon. BOOSTER MEETING ON TUESDAY (6 - 7 pm): All parents are encouraged to attend booster club meetings. Meetings are normally held in the orchestra room (adjacent to the band hall). OPEN HOUSE ON WEDNESDAY (5:30 - 8 pm): This is a great time to meet your child’s teachers. The Symphony Orchestra will perform the Alma Mater and Star Spangled Banner during the General Session. We’ll rehearse during class on Wednesday to prepare for the performance. LEADERSHIP PEP BAND AT DAGGETT ELEMENTARY ON THURSDAY: Cheerleaders, football team members and our pep band will be at Daggett Elementary on Thursday morning. The goal is to help create exposure to Paschal HS and encourage attendance at home football games. We’ll begin playing at 7:15 AM and finish around 7:55 AM to allow students time to get back to Paschal for 1st period. Our leadership team will be the primary performers at these events. Anyone who went to Daggett Elementary is also invited to perform. Performers will wear their band t-shirt for this performance. PEP RALLY ON FRIDAY: Students will go to 1st period, then 3rd period to start the day on Friday. After that, the student body will go to 2nd period in preparation for the pep rallies. At that time, band members will get their instruments/music and go to the Gus Bates Center. There will be two pep rallies between 9:30 AM and 10:55 AM. Band members will be in the gym for both pep rallies. All students will either go to lunch or 4th period after the pep rallies. Brass, ww and percussion students will wear their band shirt for the pep rallies. GAME DAY SCHEDULE ON FRIDAY: We’ll be wearing our full marching band uniform for our first home game!! Tubas and percussion will put their instruments on the band’s 18-wheeler (parked on Forest Park Blvd) immediately after school. All students should have a plan for a meal between 3:45 and 4:30 PM. (Students are not allowed to eat concession stand food during game. Boosters will provide a light snack after halftime.) Brass, ww and percussion students will put on their uniform (bibbers only - jacket will stay in the uniform bag) at 4:30 PM. The full band will meet on the turf field at 5 PM for a march/sing-through of our halftime performance music. We will load buses on Louden St after that and head to the game. Our tentative return time for this game will be 11:00 PM. Watch for a news blast in the BAND app for notification of when we depart the stadium and an estimated return to school. Students will unload our equipment and will be dismissed as a group immediately after. No students are allowed to leave until the entire band is dismissed. REMINDER: Students need to have a specific plan to be picked up immediately after dismissal. PROGRESS REPORTS SUBMITTED AFTER THIS WEEK: Teachers will be submitting information for 1st 6-weeks progress reports early next week. Make sure you’re taking care of your grades. Students who have low grades will have to submit additional grade check forms until grades improve. FORMS REQUIRED FOR TRAVEL: We’re in pretty good shape on physical paperwork.
